Press review

Stefano Gueresi is among the three meritorious individuals of 2016 to which the Municipality has awarded a Golden Virgil.

It was the mayor of Mantua Mattia Palazzi, along with the president of the Mantua City Council Massimo Allegretti and the two vice-presidents Maddalena Portioli and Tommaso Tonelli, who delivered the civic merits before the civil, military and religious authorities of the city and the province.

«The three awarded valances - the mayor underlined in his official speech - have in common their professional experience which coincides with the civic commitment for the city. It is significant that this is occurring as we’re closing the Capitale della Cultura year which demonstrates Mantua's ability to cultivate our dreams and affirms the beauty of our city».

During the ceremony, the reasons underlying the awarding of honors were read. Cordibella (former president of the conservatory, former regional councilor, former vice mayor and creator of Palazzo Te’s International Centre of Art and Culture) received the recognition "for decades a political and cultural reference point, he made available his intelligence and sensitivity to the Mantuan community. In the Council Chamber of Palazzo Te, with Italia Nostra and at the Conservatory, he has always engaged in multiple initiatives for the protection of our cultural and environmental heritage with great human and relational skills and with great love for his Mantua, which today is the Italian Capital of Culture also thanks to him».

Dall'Aglio, a well-known drummer who has worked with the likes of Celentano, Mina and Battisti, composer and author of the unforgettable “Pugni chiusi” of the band I Ribelli, has earned recognition for his artistic longevity: «Since the age of 13 he was a musical pioneer and forerunner of Italian rock. Musician and author of first magnitude, he embodies the spirit of his times and has made the history of the Italian show. Today he still is a 'rebel' and continues to shine with a light made more magical by his faith, his human commitment and the courage shown far from the spotlight». Finally, Gueresi, pianist and composer, received the merit with this motivation: «His evocative and ethereal music has crossed national borders, helping to spread the name of Mantua in the world. Pugnacious against the insults of life, he has transformed pain into beauty. With his piano he creates small fantastical worlds, interwoven with sensations and memories, confirming once again that music is a universal language ».
